Montreal to host Sox/Jays

MONTREAL - The last 2 exhibition games matching the Blue Jays and Red Sox will be played North of the border...but not in Toronto, instead in Montreal.

It's been more than 10 years since the Montreal Expos played their last game at Olympic stadium in Montreal.

In the last few years, Montreal has again been mentioned as a possible Major League baseball city and hosting exhibition games is a perfect way to emphasize it's viability.

Benched Panda !

BOSTON - The Boston Red Sox have decided to bench Pablo Sandoval to start the season. Travis Shaw will start with the Sox at third base.

Savdoval is on year 2 of a five-year, $95 million contract.

Jays give Jesus Montero a chance

TORONTO - Jesus Montero was once a top-10 prospect in major league baseball.

The Yankees traded him to Seattle for Michael Pineda.

He's performed poorly in the mayors, got suspended for PED's, gout moved from catcher to first-base and is now 26.

Considering his defensive position, the Jays are left with a logjam of first basemen. Justin Smoak, Chris Colabello and occasionally Edwin Encarnacion all play that position.

Toronto might be just the team to resurrect his carreer.

Steve Delabar released

TORONTO - The Toronto Blue Jays have released former all-star relief pitcher Steve Delabar.

Delabar, who is out of minor-league options, crafted a 2.35 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP in eight appearances this spring, but was unable to land a spot on the active roster.

Releasing Delabar gives him the option of finding a job with another MLB club.

In the running were Drew Hutchinson, Gavin Floyd and Jesse Chavez.

Sanchez has had a stellar performance through spring training and basically forced the Blue Jays hand in making the decision.
