White Sox release Brett Lawrie

CHICAGO - The Chicago White Sox have released infielder Brett Lawrie.

Lawrie has suffered through various and frequent injuries and hasn't played since July/2016.




David Price to miss start with sore elbow

FORT MYERS, Fla - Boston Red Sox starter David Price will miss his first start of spring training with soreness in his elbow. 

It will be examined by two renowned orthopedic surgeons in Indianapolis on Friday.

Results of an initial MRI were inconclusive.

Roy Halladay to enter Canadian Baseball HOF

TORONTO - Roy "Doc' Halladay spent 12 seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays as a starting pitcher.

He has been elected to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and will be inducted in June.

J.P. Howell headed to Toronto

TORONTO - Left-handed reliever J.P. Howell has signed a one year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Howell will replace Brett Cecil who left the team as a free agent.

Saltalamacchia heading to Toronto

TORONTO - Jarrod Saltalamacchia has signed a minor league contract with the Blue Jays.

He will likely end up being Toronto's back up catcher behind Russell Martin.

He will earn 1.25M for one year and could make an addition 250K in incentives.

3 head to Cooperstown

3 MLB players have been elected to the Major League Hall of Fame.

Jeff Bagwell played for the Houston Astros and the first baseman acheived  2,314 hits and 449 homers.

Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez was an all-star catcher and played for 6 different teams. He amassed 2,844 hits and was arguably the best catcher in the MLB.

Tim Raines played 23 seasons in the MLB, 13 of them as a Montreal Expo. Known for his incredible speed, he had 808 steals as a left fielder and had a .385 on-base percentage.

Jose Bautista heading back to Blue Jays

TORONTO - Jose Bautista is heading is heading back to Toronto for at least one more season.

Reportedly, the 36 year old slugger has agreed to a one-year 18M deal with options for a 2nd and 3rd year. 

If he stays with the Blue Jays on mutual options, for the next 3 seasons, the contract could amount to 60M.
